The Business Intelligence Compendium is the off-spring of the business intelligence info center, a personal initiative of Jan Aertsen to document his knowledge about [business intelligence]. The growing number of requests to add or update information has inspired us to open up the initiative to an international community of enthusiast BI professionals. Updating this with the number of limited volunteers became impossible. kJube business intelligence has subsidized the set-up of the business intelligence compendium. This platform incorporates a minimum amount of on-line adds to support the running costs of the platform.
The first objective towards the future for the Business Intelligence Compendium is to become a free knowledge base related to all aspects of [business intelligence], both from business as from IT technological point of view. The information will be maintained using the [1] platform, used also for the famous Wikipedia. However the Business Intelligence Compendium will NOT use the same contributor philosophy as Wikipedia does. The Compendium will be updated by industry experts rather than by "anyone". The information will remain freely available at all times for readers.
Next to becoming the primary source for business intelligence related information, the Business Intelligence Compendium will have as a second objective to become a free platform for business intelligence experts to demonstrate their skills in specific areas of business intelligence. Anyone will be able to propose new articles or changes to articles, but only those who are voted by the existing exerts are allowed the status of professional contributor. All professional contributors will be encouraged to use their user pages for personal publicity, allowing interested parties to locate experts based on contributions.
As a final objective and in the long run the BI will aim to become a recognized quality label for business intelligence experts. An auto regulating system will guarantee that all contributing experts actually remain active participants in the project with valuable input.
